Hi everyone! It has been a long time since I last posted, but life has been busier than ever lately. Although I barely have time to write blog posts anymore, I want to keep sharing bits and pieces whenever I can.

Last Christmas holidays I went on a family trip to Sydney (Australia) to spend two weeks with my brother, who’s living there. It was an overall amazing experience, and the coolest trip I’ve ever done. We fed kangaroos, saw the New Year’s Eve Sydney fireworks and visited the incredibly famous Sydney Opera House!

There is a place for everyone in Sydney. On one hand, there is the financial district, with big skyscrapers and a similar vibe to New York. Full of Asian restaurants, I’ve enjoyed the best Thai and Japanese meals in small venues within that neighborhood. On another hand, there are the beach areas such as Manly or Bondi, with a similar feel to the California Coast. There I found all I had pictured in my head Australia would be; tanned youngsters everywhere, chilled and relaxed ambience, pubs and bars, sea and salt smell, surf, parties and people from endless nationalities. On another note, there are completely unique areas, such as Circular Quay, where the Opera House is located; probably one of my favorite spots of the city and certainly the most impressive. On top of that, the countryside is breathtakingly beautiful. We were able to travel to the Blue Mountains, where you are surrounded by incredible and majestic mountains and waterfalls.

I can’t stress enough my big recommendation to travel to this amazing city and let it captivate you.
If you go, you can't miss a Brunch in The Grounds of Alexandria, a fish and chips in Watson's Bay, or seafood in the fish market.

Hola a todos! Llevo un montón tiempo sin publicar, pero mi vida ha sido una locura recientemente. Aunque ya prácticamente no tengo tiempo para escribir posts, quiero seguir compartiendo con vosotros las poquitas cositas interesantes que hago últimamente, jiji.

Las pasadas vacaciones de Navidad viajé con mi familia a Sydney (Australia) para pasar dos semanitas con mi hermano, que está viviendo allí temporalmente. Fue una experiencia increíble, y seguramente el mejor viaje que he hecho en mi vida.

Dimos de comer a canguros y vimos los fuegos artificiales de fin de año de Sydney en vivo y en directo. ¡Qué más se puede pedir!

Realmente, hay cosas para todos los gustos en Sydney. Por una parte, está el distrito financiero o el centro de la ciudad, con grandes rascacielos y una apariencia muy similar a Nueva York. Está repleto de restaurantes asiáticos y allí he probado la mejor comida tailandesa y japonesa del mundo. Por otra parte, están las zonas de playa como Bondi y Manly, que se parecen un montón a la costa de California. Allí es dónde encuentras todo lo que creías que sería Australia, surf y jóvenes súper rubios, el ambiente más relajado de la ciudad, bares y pubs en todos los rincones, fiestas con gente de todas las nacionalidades y un largo etcétera de “goals”.

Un ambiente totalmente diferente se puede encontrar en Watson’s Bay, una zona de casas increíblemente lujosas y unas vistas al mar espectaculares; o en Circular Quay, dónde se encuentra la Ópera de Sydney.

Y la guinda del pastel es que los alrededores también son impresionantes; tuvimos la oportunidad de ir a las Blue Mountains, conocidas así por el color azulado de los bosques de eucalipto, un entorno con montañas majestuosas y preciosas cascadas.

Me faltan palabras para recomendaros de viajar a esta ciudad en caso de que tengáis oportunidad.

Eso sí, si vais no podéis perderos un Brunch en The Grounds of Alexandria, un plato del famoso fish and chips en Watson's Bay, o una mariscada en el Fish Market.

Last Friday my boyfriend surprised me by inviting me to his family apartment up in the mountains for the weekend, so that we could have a few relaxing days after a hard week. We have had the most stress-relieving time together so I wanted to share with you my favorite things to do to de-stress.

First and most important get out of the city: the city is stressful in itself; there is always so many people, traffic and noise. You only realize how calm life can be when you leave the city behind and head up to less crowded places. That leads me to breathing fresh air: we spend the whole week inhaling pollution from factories, cars and tracks; so our lungs enjoy some fresh air every once in a while, and so do our minds (or at least mine).

Get lost to find beautiful sceneries. On a de-stressing weekend the least thing you want to do is waste your time planning an amazing excursion; instead, get your car without any mind-set and drive until you find a remote village or unexplored area. Trust me the best experiences you can live are the unplanned ones. Drive while the sun is setting, there is nothing more relaxing and pleasing for the eyes and brain. Relax.

Do all your favorites. These two days of the week you deserve some time dedicated just to yourself. Watch your favorite movie, you have the whole evening and night ahead, do not worry about having to go to bed early, enjoy your time. Eat your favorite dishes, you spend 5 days a week worrying about calories and trying to cook incredibly healthy meals, during the weekend you can treat yourself and eat a little bit of chocolate or some fries if you fancy. Listen to your favorite album, it does not have to be instrumental (in fact, sing at the top of your lungs if you can).

Take hot baths, especially if it is cold outside; and last but certainly not least, sleep, sleep a lot. You definitely do not get enough sleep during the week days, so take two days to sleep 10 hours straight and nap whenever you please. It’s YOUR time.

And on Sundays do not worry too much, there is only 5 days ahead to overcome until you can enjoy a little bit more of your happy time.

El viernes pasado mi novio me sorprendió invitándome el fin de semana al apartamento de su familia en la montaña para disfrutar de unos días de descanso después de una semana bastante dura. Como hemos conseguido tener dos días de relajación absoluta quería compartir con vosotros mis favoritos para desestresarme.

Lo primero y para mí más importante es salir de la ciudad: la ciudad es estresante en sí misma, siempre llena de gente, con muchísimo tráfico y ruido. Sólo te das cuenta de lo relajada que puede ser la vida cuando dejas atrás la ciudad y viajas hacia sitios menos poblados. Respirar aire puro: nos pasamos toda la semana inhalando la contaminación de fábricas, coches y camiones, así que nuestros pulmones disfrutan un poco de aire fresco de tanto en cuando, y también nuestras mentes (o al menos la mía).

Perderse para encontrar paisajes preciosos: en un fin de semana de relax lo último que quieres hacer es ponerte a planear la excursión perfecta. Coge el coche sin ningún tipo de rumbo y conduce hasta que encuentres el pueblo más recóndito o la zona menos conocida. Las mejores experiencias que puedes vivir son las que menos has planeado. Conduce mientras se está poniendo el sol, no hay nada más relajante y agradable para la vista y el cerebro. Relájate.

Haz todas las cosas que te gustan. Durante al menos dos días de la semana te mereces algo de tiempo para ti mismo y para hacer las cosas que te hacen feliz. Mira tu película favorita, tienes toda la noche por delante, no te preocupes por tener que ir a dormir temprano, disfruta de tu tiempo. Come tus platos favoritos, te pasas 5 días a la semana preocupada/o por las calorías de este o ese producto y procuras cocinar increíblemente sano; no pasa nada si por dos días comes un poco de chocolate o unas patatas fritas cuando te apetece. Escucha tu CD favorito, no tiene por qué ser música relajante (de hecho, canta tanto como puedas).

Date un baño caliente, especialmente si hace frío fuera; y finalmente, pero no por ello menos importante, duerme, duerme tanto como puedas. Definitivamente no descansas tanto como deberías durante la semana, así que tómate estos dos días para dormir 10 horas y echarte tantas siestas como te apetezca. Es TU tiempo.

Y los domingos no te preocupes demasiado, sólo queda superar 5 días para poder volver a disfrutar de un poco de tiempo de felicidad.
